Dr Roy Richard-Huson grew up in the southern suburbs of Cape Town. He attended the University of Stellenbosch where he completed his B.Ch.D degree in dentistry in 1996…
From here Dr Richard Huson moved to the United Kingdom to work at a dental practice near Cambridge. He worked there for 4 years after which he bought into the practice and became the principal dentist of this large private practice.
In 2008 he sold the practice and was offered a position at one of the top cosmetic practices in the Harley street area of London. There he gained a huge amount of experience in cosmetic dentistry working at the practice which hosted the BBC’s “10 years younger” television series. Here he was trained by Dr Joe Oliver, one of the worlds leading cosmetic dentists to celebrities.
He stayed in the United Kingdom until August 2010, and moved back to South Africa to start Silver Oaks Dental Clinic in September 2010.
Dr Richard Huson has attended numerous post graduate training courses since qualifying. These include, amongst others a year course in Specialised Cosmetic Dentistry in London. He also received a Certificate of Implantology for a year course in dental implantology at Cambridge.
Dr Richard Huson is passionate about dentistry and constantly strives to improve the services he offers his patients. He has a very gentle nature and makes sure that his patients are very comfortable during treatment. To this end, he sometimes uses Nitrous Oxide Inhalation Sedation or “The Wand” local anaesthetic system. He is one of the only dentists in South Africa who offers cosmetic imaging as a treatment modality – a way to visualise your cosmetic treatment options digitally on the computer without having to physically touch the teeth at all. Dr Richard is continually learning and striving to improve his techniques and treatment options.
Dr Richard Huson uses the latest techniques in CAD-CAM digital dentistry to create Same-Day-Crowns and Same-Day-Smiles with the use of the CEREC 3D laser scanner and MCXL milling unit.
